Phra Naprok (Saturday Buddha) BE2513
Luang Phor Od
Wat Chansen, Nakhon Sawan
Material: Nur Phong Phuttakhun (Holy Powder)
Size: 1.25″
Luang Phor Od was the disciple of Luang Phor Phrom from Wat Chong Kae in Nakhon Sawan.
Phra Naprok is a sacred Buddha image in the Naga-protected posture, enshrined at Wat Chansen. The powder-based amulets of Phra Naprok were created in B.E. 2513 (1970) with the intention of being distributed to devotees who came to attend the temple’s Pha Thong Fang Luk Nimit (gold-leaf ceremony and sacred sphere burial). A total of 84,000 amulets were made, with 42,000 being enshrined in the bell tower and Luk Nimit pit. These were meant for future generations to venerate, or in cases where the temple needed funds for restoration, they could be respectfully taken out and made available for worship.
This batch of sacred powder amulets was initiated by Phra Kru Niwit Thammakhan (Luang Pho Charoen), the current abbot, who commissioned a craftsman from Bangkok to carve the mold from razor stone. The mold was then presented to Luang Pho Od, who greatly admired the beauty of the Buddha image and gave permission for its production. He remarked, “It will protect those whose luck is unexpectedly lacking.”
The consecration ceremony (Phutthapisek) took place on Saturday the 5th, on the 5th waxing moon of the 5th lunar month in B.E. 2513. Many revered monks were invited to participate in the blessing ritual. Interestingly, Luang Pho Phrom of Wat Chong Khae, who never participated in consecration ceremonies outside his own temple no matter who invited him, actually agreed to attend this one. This may have been due to his affection for Luang Pho Od, his disciple.
List of participating senior monks:

After the ceremony ended, Luang Pho Phrom stepped outside the ordination hall and loudly announced, “Hey! Does anyone have a gun? Try firing it over the roof of the ordination hall. If the bullet goes through, Phrom will bet his head on it.” A fearless local named Payap drew his revolver and fired three shots toward the ordination hall. All three rounds misfired—just soft clicks. Surprised, Payap turned the gun away toward the front of the temple and fired again—this time the gun went off with loud bangs. Everyone who witnessed the event was so amazed that they rushed to rent and venerate the amulets in overwhelming numbers.

(Wat Chan Sen)
