Song Tai Hong Patriarch, originally named Ling’e and styled Tongshou, was born in Fujian in 1039. He initially served as a scholar and official, reaching the position of Shaoxing County Magistrate. Disillusioned by the corruption of the government, he renounced his official post and became a monk, dedicating his life to saving all beings. His compassion and noble character made him a highly respected monk of his time.
