These individuals abused the Phra Chai statue, using it for curses, obtaining illicit benefits, and other dark purposes, which tarnished the statue’s reputation as an “evil Buddha.”
But we must ask ourselves: What is the essence of Buddha? Buddha represents enlightenment, compassion, and wisdom. If a Buddha statue is maliciously used and becomes a tool for dark arts, what it displays is no longer the essence of Buddha, but rather the result of distortion and misuse. If a Buddha is forcibly turned into a demon, can it still be called a Buddha? Clearly, this is not the true nature of Buddha.
In reality, Phra Chai is not an evil Buddha; its essence remains a symbol of compassion and wisdom. True Buddhist believers should understand that any Buddha statue, when revered with a kind and upright heart, can exert its positive influence. The misuse of dark arts may stain the reputation of a Buddha statue, but it does not alter its inherent nature.
It’s worth noting that in BE 2530 (1987 AD), Thailand’s Buddhist Supreme Council organized a large-scale Buddha statue competition for the first time, where Phra Chai was included as one of the entries and participated in the ancient Buddha category. This event marked the beginning of a renewed understanding and acceptance of Phra Chai by the public.
Today, as time has passed, more and more people are shedding their misconceptions about Phra Chai, embracing and respecting the true value of this Buddha statue.
帕财古佛如何被误为“邪佛”的真实典故

值得注意的是，在佛历2530年（西元1987年），泰国佛总首次主办了大型的佛像比赛，帕财古佛被列为比赛项目之一，并参与了古佛项目的评比。这标志着帕财古佛逐渐被公众重新认识和接受。
如今，随着时间的推移，越来越多的人开始摒弃对帕财古佛的误解，接受并尊重这尊佛像的真正价值。
