In the world of Thai amulet collecting, there is a medallion hailed as a true legend — the Rian Sirimongkhon. More widely known among collectors as the Rian Rakang or “Bell-Shaped Medallion,” it stands as one of the most iconic creations of Luang Phor Kasem and is regarded as a top-tier masterpiece within his catalogue, valued in the million-baht class.
This batch was created in B.E. 2516 (1973 A.D.) and consecrated in a grand blessing ceremony. At that time, the bell-shaped design was unprecedented in the Thai amulet scene, instantly creating a sensation and later influencing countless future designs. Collectors widely agree that this was the breakthrough piece that catapulted Luang Phor Kasem’s medallions to nationwide prominence.
The official name Sirimongkhon carries the meaning of “bestowing auspiciousness and blessings.” When asked why he chose such a distinctive bell shape, Luang Phor Kasem humorously remarked that he hoped the bearer of this medallion would be as Dang — a Thai word meaning both “loud” and “renowned” — as the bell of the temple. That vision has indeed come true: today, this medallion is not only famous throughout the country but also holds an unrivaled place of prestige in the hearts of collectors, serving as a timeless symbol of Luang Phor Kasem’s legacy.
